We are very dog friendly!
Water and treats are always available.
Located within Helmsley Walled Garden 'The Vinehouse Cafe' is independent and family run. Sister and brother team Mollie and Sam Chapman bought the cafe in April 2015.

The cafes' emphasis has always been to serve fresh food using quality ingredients and from the Walled Garden where possible.

In 2019 The Vinehouse was voted Visit Englands' Visitor Experience Award winners in Yorkshire within the food and drink category.

Examples from our ever changing daily menu include a feta and green bean frittata, Yorkshire ham and mature cheddar melt with lashings of onion marmalade and a lamb rump served on flatbread with salsa and a mint raita. All plated meals are served with homemade salads.

Menus change depending on the time of year. During the winter months we offer warming specials ie. stew, pies and always a homemade soup.

Not hungry for lunch?
No problem! Feel free to pop in for a freshly ground coffee (Dancing Goat, Tockwith) or loose leaf tea (Hebden Tea, The Shambles York)
Our scones are freshly baked each morning and we always have a good selection of homemade cakes and slices.

NO RESERVATIONS
The Vinehouse Cafe is a casual eatery where customers can nip in for a quick coffee or enjoy a leisurely lunch with garden and castle views.
Reservations can be tricky to manage, unreliable and detrimental to small businesses.
Therefore we do not take bookings. With over 100 seats outside and more inside finding a table shouldn't be a problem.

NB. All food and drink consumed on site for any event must be provided by The Vinehouse Café.
